“My Grandad had a stroke two years ago and lost the use of his left arm, has difficulty using his left leg and struggles with his speech. He is 72 and has lived alone since Nanna died five years ago. Grandad loves his home and his garden and although Mum and Dad offered, he doesn’t want to live with them or be a ‘burden’. Banksia Care have been amazing and with their support, Grandad has been able to stay at home and keep up the care of his garden. He gets meals on wheels most days (except when we have our traditional Sunday roast or take him to the bowls club for a meal), gets support with the housework and assistance getting to medical appointments. Mum does his shopping, but Grandad get some help from Banksia Care support worker for appointments Mum can’t get to so he has help with communication”
