I kept my Mum at home for as long as I could, but as I am now in my 60’s, I just no longer had the strength to support her physically and was worried I would hurt her or injure myself. I love my Mum so much and deciding to seek support in an aged service was an emotional battle I faced for many months. The team at Banksia Care were so supportive from that initial phone call when I made an enquiry. I didn’t feel alone in this decision anymore and felt they understood my struggle. Mum and I met with Josh, Frank and Tina and immediately felt relaxed and at home. Mum loves her room. She has so many new friends, she has joined a knitting club and looks forward to monthly bus trips. I visit her every second day and we catch up for coffee (sometimes at Matilda’s Coffee Shop) and every time I leave I feel I am leaving her happy and safe.
